“I love you my, rag-a-muffin!”

Posted on Posted in General

Tonight, I begin vacation. What better way to take a break from packing…a blog post!! I know I have promised, and tonight I will deliver. I have notes saved all over folders on my computer. So I have been finding wonderful surprises. I have added some to this post, but most of it was written a while ago when I was trying to figure out what to call my blog.

Musings of an Everyday Rag-a-Muffin

Rag-a-muffin is a term of endearment that my father has used for me since I can remember. It was used to describe my appearance upon rolling out of bed in the morning.

So I think it was in 6th or 7th grade when I looked up rag-a-muffin for the first time.

Rag-a-Muffin is defined as a “dirty or disheveled individual.” It really made me laugh, I must have looked pretty bad. But,  I just smiled. Despite my pretty disheveled appearance in the morning, my Dad loved me still πŸ™‚

Why do I still love hearing “I love you, my rag-a-muffin.”?

1. 1t rings of a deep love of a Father for his daughter, that goes beyond looking at appearances, but one that looks at your heart!
2. I am a sinner, in need of saving. That’s what Jesus did for me and you by dying on the cross and raising from the dead. Though I am still tattered, brocken, and “disheveled,” He no longer sees this part of me, He sees who HE has made me to be because Jesus paid the price for the sin that so easily destroys.

I am no where near perfect, but I know that God’s Spirit resides in me and goes with me, so that I become more like Jesus everyday, by HIS power, not my own.

This begs the question:
How does this gift of grace and this amazing love change my perspective?

The time has come to move beyond myself,
to see beyond my anxieties,
and step out of the shadows,
to throw away all that weighs me down!

I am a Daughter of the King
clothed in his finest,
cleansed by the blood of the lamb,
no longer defined by my yesterdays or missed opportunities,
now defined by the promises of God and His view of me!

It’s not how the world sees me,
But my Creator: who says I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
His child for whose future was known before time began!

Just an ordinary girl,
saved by an awesome God,
on an extraordinary adventure!

God desires to shower His Love and Grace on you πŸ™‚
Won’t you come too?

  1. Just an addition πŸ™‚
    A quote from "Rag-a-Muffin Gospel"
β€œFor Ragamuffins, God's name is Mercy. We see our darkness as a prized possession because it drives us into the heart of God. Without mercy our darkness would plunge us into despair – for some, self-destruction. Time alone with God reveals the unfathomable depths of the poverty of the spirit. We are so poor that even our poverty is not our own: It belongs to the mysterium tremendum of a loving God.”
In all of this there is a heavenly Father so in love with me that He sent his only Son to die for me, to save me from my sin. What an amazing gift! I hope this blog can be a place where I can share with you the journey that God has brought me on and continues to.
