Dwelling in the Shelter of the Most High

Posted on Posted in General

I was reading Psalm 91 one Saturday morning:

Verse 1 says: He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the Shadow of the Almighty.
The question arose: what does it mean to “dwell?”
Synonyms for dwell include to reside, to live, to abide, or to settle

Just as you remain at your place of living…to dwell means to REMAIN. How do I remain? Here’s what came to mind:

1. Prayer keeps us in communication with God
2. Reading the Bible (His Word) keeps us filled with his instruction and words of life
3. Simple Obedience keeps us on track, keeps us in the will of God

His shelter is constant, never changing, always there. Unlike, shadows that come and go the Shadow of the Almighty never leaves. The rest and comfort you can gain from shadows on a hot summer day change with the position of the sun. The rest, comfort and protection that comes from God is far better and always available.

How do we gain access to this shelter to rest in the Shadow of the Almighty?
